5 Rules to Effectively Design Your Facebook Page

Courtesy of Richard Fisher

Creating an attractive and appealing page on Facebook to promote any business, interest or product is the best way to make your effort to penetrate the market. Facebook has a massive fan following and wide accessibility all around the world, therefore it is a smart move to start marketing your business through Facebook. However, there are thousands of pages streamed across the web and hence, it is important to make your page stand out amongst all of them.

Following some of these easy and basic guidelines can help you make an interactive and interesting Facebook page without any extra hassle and difficulty.

Step 1 – Select a Catch Phrase or Appealing Name for Your Page

The first thing visible on your page is its name; therefore make sure to select a catchy and attractive name that pulls the user at first glance. You can also use a caption or a catch phrase as the title to make your page more appealing and exciting to the reader. Make sure to use words that are easy and search friendly so that they appear more often on the user’s home pages.

Step 2 – Use Tabs to Make your Page User Friendly

Apart from the standard tabs that are provided to every user, you can customize your page and add additional tabs and links to make the page more comprehensive and user friendly. You can even customize and personalize the layout of these tabs so that it appears more eye-catching and attractive to the visitors on the page.

Step 3 – Create a Landing Page Describing Your Page

The landing page is the first page that the visitor will see once they click on your page. You can use your creativity to the max in order to create a landing page that is attractive, colorful and best describes the purpose of the page. You can even add animation and images to make it more appealing. If you are promoting a business through the page, add a company overview and contact details on the landing page in bold letters so that the user can easily extract the information.

Step 4 – Use Graphics

Use appropriate images and graphics on your page as the display picture, header image and the cover photo. You can also post photos regularly on the page to make the experience interactive for your target clientele.

Step 5 – Provide Value Adding Content

Last but not the least; provide quality content and written text on your page in order to win your customers over. The content on your page gives you the chance to interact with the user and tell them why they should choose you, therefore give it your best shot and use targeted, clear and precise information.

I love #4 and #5 the most. Ever since the launch of Timeline layout, all brand pages are forced into adapting ‘images’ in their content strategy. This totally changes the way we share our page updates, and that’s a good thing since (generally) image attracts eyeballs, subsequently more engagements – we just didn’t get to focus on that until Timeline. Although I still miss some of the old page features, but no doubt that using graphics is the way to boost a page’s visibility and reach.

Cool post. I’d recommend that you reserve one of your apps for some type of competition that collects e-mail addresses (subject to permission). It’s hard to convert on Facebook so having e-mail collection helps convert outside in the real world!

    Thanks for the tips.

Assigning a name to your page is one of the ways to attract likes alongside the graphics you can add.

Also adding as much info to the page is another tactic many forget to do.
